Management by Wandering on Linkedin: Part 2- Tips to Maximize Impact
Part 1 of the blog introduced the concept of “Management by Wandering around on LinkedIn”. This blog shares some tips on how marketers can leverage this trend.
Tip #1: The post title should talk about the big picture.
Biggest, largest, tallest, longest, etc., always grab attention. For example, Dubai has grabbed the attention of the world by building the world’s tallest building, largest man-made islands, biggest observation wheel, etc., and now the world is flocking to Dubai. Although, most of our posts might not have the scale of Dubai, we can get inspiration from Dubai and show the big impact the content we are posting has.
Tip #2: Post description should communicate thought leadership (in an implied way).
Once the big picture impact has been thought through, think about how the content being shared is unique. It could be unique in different ways, such as by industry, by season, by affiliation or any other. First time in the industry or first time in the season could be useful starting lines.
Tip #3: Images or videos should be of high quality.
Today, most smartphones have good cameras and can take quality pictures and videos for posting online. However, if the image or video is taken from the internet, we need to make sure that it is of high quality and has not been compressed or re-sized too much. Pixelated images or videos lead to a poor viewing experience, and ultimately the communication objective suffers.
Tip #4: Avoid long videos
The average human attention span shrunk by nearly a quarter between the years 2000 and 2015, and we’re now lagging behind the humble goldfish in terms of being able to focus on a task or object. ” (“Wyzowl,” n.d.). Shorter videos of 15 sec to 30 sec should do the trick.
Tip #5: Don’t post too many pictures.
LinkedIn allows upto 9 images per post. Ensure each picture tells a story about the title.
