How to name Campaigns or Initiatives

Many organizations have a practice of creating emblems or names for certain initiatives or campaigns. Most of these have a modest lifeline and limited appeal to audiences beyond the organization. The recall is restricted among teams and divisions inside organizations as well. Although this approach may have advantages of its own (not covered in this blog), a different strategy might be to “keep it simple.”
“Keep it simple” in this context means:
- Avoid using fancy names to keep things simple.
- No icons
- Short names only
- Adhering to brand guidelines and not acting inconsistently with the brand’s essence
- Describe the initiative or campaign in just a few words.
One significant advantage of this strategy is that the primary “Brand” reaps all the rewards.
Through a variety of efforts, audiences develop stronger associations and memory with the primary brand, which is beneficial for the brand over the long term.
